Quincy Roundtree

Quincy RoundtreeQuincy Roundtree is the artist of another upcoming exhibit for the Gallery Hall January/February 2019.

Quincy Roundtree, from Quincy Sketchbook and the Brothers Tree, was brought up on steady diet of Saturday morning cartoons, comic books video games and mythology. He was born with an overactive imagination and a pencil in his hand, he has been drawing and creating for as long as he can remember.

As a child of the 80s he was fortunate enough to experience the Golden Age of pop culture. Quincy commented, “Strange new lands and galaxies far away; terrifying villains and courageous heroes; it would be more than most young kids would know what to do with. Except, I was never like most kids.’

As an African-American, he was able to enjoy the world and characters presented in most pop culture media but could not identify with most of it. It is always caused me to look at the world of entertainment through the lens of “what if.”

Quincy’s artistic expression is to tell the kinds of stories that encompass everything he loves. He wants to tell the kinds of stories and present the kinds of images he needed in his youth. He wants to create the kind of art that encourages others to do the same.
