Eight current and incoming University of South Alabama students have been
awarded USA Children of Employees Scholarships for the 2001-02 academic year. “The
Children of Employees Scholarships are USA’s most popular designation for employee gifts,”
Ginny Turner, associate director of development, said. “It’s growing by leaps and bounds.”
The eight USA Children of Employees Scholarship recipients will receive $1,000 to be
applied toward tuition and fees for the 2001-02 academic year.
The 2001 USA Children of Employees Scholarship winners are: Steven Samuel Barnes
Jr., 19, from Semmes, majoring in marketing/transportation; Aubrey Patrick Dungan, 19, from
Mobile, majoring in secondary education-social studies; Timothy Michael Gibson, 17, from
Mobile, an incoming freshman; Bonnie Elizabeth Hare, 18, from Mobile, majoring
in biomedical sciences; John Carey Havard, 19, from Semmes, majoring in English; Angela
Renée Lyda, 19, from Mobile, majoring in accounting; Sarah Catherine Martin, 19,
from Mobile, majoring in biomedical sciences; and Patrick Sean O’Keefe, 19, from
Mobile, an incoming freshman.
