Hellenic Studies Benefit Concert Slated for March 11

A March 11 benefit concert for USA's Endowment for Hellenic Studies will feature world-renowned vocalist Nadia Weinberg at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11 at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science.

Tickets are $20 fro the general public and $10 for students with identification. A reception will follow at the Hellenic Center on Ann Street.

"Beyond the Seas," a concert of international music is being presented by the Cultural Committee of Athens 2004, the Greek Community of Mobile and the American Hellenic Educational and Progressive Association.

Weinberg, a soloist with the Orchestra of Athens, has performed for both Prince Charles and former President Bill Clinton. During the benefit concert, she will sing well known Greek ballads and popular melodies in Hebrew, Italian, French, Spanish, Greek and English.

Throughout her career, she has performed in more than 150 concerts as some of the world's premier musical venues, including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol and the Athens Concert Hall.
