USA Students Elect Gulfport Native President of Student Government Association

Mobile, Ala.—The University of South Alabama today announced the results of the new Student Government Association (SGA) election of officers for the 2004-2005 academic year.
	Joey Robinson, 20, a junior psychology major and a native of Gulfport, Miss., will serve as president of the SGA. He’s a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Theta Chi and Mortar Board honor societies. Robinson is a recipient of the Malcom Howell Leadership Scholarship and is on the dean’s list at USA. Robinson is a former SGA senator and chairman of safety and improvements. He is the son of Judy Robinson.
	Nicole Cummins, 21, of Mobile will serve as vice president. She is a junior political science major and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Order of Omega, Golden Key and Alpha Theta Chi honor societies. She is on the dean’s list and the recipient of the Margaret S. Bonhstadt Scholarship, the Davis Leadership Award and the Lebanese Club Scholarship. She is a former SGA senator, and the daughter of Joe and Melanie Cummins.
	Shannon Langley, 22, of Mobile will serve as treasurer. She is a senior finance major and a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Alpha Theta Chi, Mortar Board and Alpha Theta Chi honor societies. She is also on the dean’s list. Langley is a former SGA university disciplinary committee member, attorney general and vice president. She is the daughter of Ted Langley and Mary Dismukes.
Jarrod Cunningham, 20, of Birmingham will serve as chief justice. He is a junior majoring in mathematics and physics. Cunningham is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Society of Physics Students, Mortar Board, Order of Omega, Alpha Theta Chi and Pi Eta Sigma honor societies. Cunningham, a former SGA senator, is on the dean’s and president’s list. He is the son of Roosevelt and Patricia Cunningham. Brandon Francis, 21, a native of Enterprise, Ala., was elected attorney general. He is a junior majoring in finance. Francis is a former Interfraternity Council Secretary and served on the SGA Elections and Athletics Committee. He is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma, Alpha Theta Chi, and Delta Mu Sigma honor societies. He is also the recipient of the IFC Council Scholarship and the IFC Academic Excellence awards. The purpose of the SGA is to protect and advance student interests as well as to promote the welfare of the student body. The organization operates as a constitutional democracy and is comprised of executive judicial and legislative branches.
