The Office of Minority Student Affairs at the University commemorates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19 at the USA Student Center Ball Room. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The featured speaker for the event is Mike Mitchell, assistant dean of students at the University of Southern Mississippi. Mitchell is a 1989 graduate of Vigor High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of South Alabama where he served as student government association president for two consecutive terms. He is the second African-American to serve in that position.
