University of South Alabama nursing junior Stephanie Hill of Mobile recently received a $500 grant from the Women's Fund of Southern Alabama at their annual meeting.

Hill, a 21-year-old single mother of three, has a 3.0 grade point average and plans to use the award to pay for books, car expenses, and to apply for nursing school.

Established in 2003, the Women's Fund is a donor-advised fund under the supervision of the Community Foundation of South Alabama. The focus of the Women's Fund is to promote community-based initiatives that target the special needs of women and girls.
