Tropical Storm Arlene

Friday morning, June 10, 2005

The Mobile area is included in a Tropical Storm Watch issued from Morgan City, Louisiana to Indian Pass, Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning may be issued for the Mobile area later today.

At this time we are expecting periods of heavy rain and wind in Mobile possibly beginning Friday evening and lasting through Sunday. These periods of severe weather may last for several hours.

The USA campus is on the highest ground in the Mobile County. We do not expect flooding, however it would be wise to park any vehicles away from low areas in parking lots, near drainage system grates.

Students should stay apprised of the latest weather conditions through local TV and radio broadcasts. On the campus cable system the local channels are: 5, 10, and 11.

The University Police will be fully operational during this period. The housing staff will contact students should the situation change.
