The 2007 Higher Education Day Rally will be held in Montgomery on the State House steps at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 5.
All faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to attend and show USA's support for higher education. This year is especially important because the Legislature will consider a bond issue for education in addition to the regular budget, and USA needs to secure its fair share.
Following the rally, there will be a free barbecue lunch served on the capitol grounds. There will also be a tour of the State House and an opportunity to visit with the local delegation.
The Office of Governmental Relations is providing a bus for faculty, staff and alumni. For reservations, call Marsha Butler at (251) 460-7277 or e-mail her at mbutler@usouthal.edu.
The USA Student Government Association will provide another bus for students making the day trip. They are asked to reserve their places by calling (251) 460-7191 or e-mailing jencrosslin@yahoo.com.
The buses will depart from the University Commons parking lot promptly at 8 a.m. and return by 5 p.m. Bus seating is limited. Faculty, staff, alumni and students should make reservations as soon as possible to assure seating.
Supporters of public colleges and universities from across the state are expected to attend. Participation on behalf of USA is very important. |
