Brian Johnson (left) president of the Mobile Jaycees, presents a $27,000 check from the proceeds of the 2007 Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo to Dr. Bob Shipp, chair of the USA department of marine sciences. The Jaycees have donated more than $150,000 to the department, which provides on-site research at the annual angler's event. The fishing rodeo is one of the world's largest, and it is the only one that combines research with hooking prize catches.
