The University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business and the Mitchell Cancer Institute recently hosted events for the Bedsole Scholars, who are college students from across southwest Alabama who have received scholarships from the J.L. Bedsole Foundation. The students, who are selected based on their leadership skills and potential, are encouraged to stay in Alabama for their careers.
USA Mitchell College of Business professors conducted a leadership seminar for freshman scholarship students and upperclassmen and alumni.
Leadership Seminar I, aimed at the 40 freshman scholars, focused on self-knowledge and goal-setting. Leadership Seminar II, which was targeted to upperclassmen and alumni, explored leadership styles, communication and team-building skills.
In addition, a medical career colloquium was held at the Mitchell Cancer Institute. A panel of Mitchell Cancer Institute researchers, doctors, nurses and medical professionals discussed different career opportunities in the medical field in Mobile with Bedsole scholars and alumni. The event included lunch and a tour of the Mitchell Cancer Institute.
