The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at the University of South Alabama will present 2010 Gospel Night featuring recording artist Sheri Jones-Moffett on Monday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Her freshman CD “Renewed,” which has placed sixth on the 2009 Billboard’s Gospel Chart, has received rave reviews for its distinct style and sound with upbeat, contemporary worship songs. “Renewed” received a 2010 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album. She has also received numerous Stellar awards, in addition to other achievements.

Jones-Moffett gives precise vocals and depth, which offers fans and listeners various styles. The CD “Renewed” is her music story.

“Everything you hear is my life,” Moffett said. “These are things I needed to say, and I had to say them on my own.”

Jones-Moffett has worked with Producer Donald Lawrence as one of the now legendary Tri-City Singers, Gospel’s IT-choir of the 1990s. Lawrence, a gospel music songwriter and artist also served as a mentor to Jones-Moffett.

During the concert, the USA African-American Student Association Choir will open for Jones-Moffett.
