University of South Alabama Associate Director of Development Tracy Coleman was honored as the United Way of Southwest Alabama's 2009 Employee Campaign “Coordinator of the Year.”
For the past five years, Coleman, along with a team of USA faculty and staff division representatives, has successfully conducted USA's United Way campaign, one of the region’s largest. She uses model campaign practices at USA, such as a targeted leadership-giving solicitation and an annual Women's Initiative event. Through her efforts, the participation of University employees has increased each of the last five years. The award honors her years of service to United Way.

In 2009, USA raised $280,212 for United Way, making USA the largest employee-funded campaign in the region. USA’s campaign exceeded its goal of $278,000.
The United Way contributions came from more than 2,500 USA employees, an increase of more than 140 donors over 2008. Donors to the Women’s Initiative increased to 30, from 25 last year. Also, a new retiree campaign, led by Dr. Glenn Sebastian, began this year.
