The University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business has named Dr. K. Mark Weaver as the Ben May Chair of Entrepreneurship effective August 15, 2011. Weaver will also serve as the founding director of the Melton Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.
An internationally known scholar and teacher, Weaver currently serves as the Thomas H. Daigre Endowed Chair at Louisiana State University. Previously, he served as the Rohrer Chair of Entrepreneurial Studies at Rowan University and as a professor of management at the University of Alabama. Weaver received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management and Ph.D. in management from Louisiana State University.
Weaver has an outstanding record of scholarship with over 50 published journal articles, more than 145 published proceedings from academic conferences, six books and eleven book chapters. He has served as a visiting scholar or guest lecturer in over 20 countries, including University College Dublin in Ireland and the Oslo Business School in Norway. Weaver has also completed consulting assignments for firms in the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Mexico.
Weaver currently serves as the President of the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and has served as the proceedings editor and AACSB liaison for the Academy of Management.

The Melton Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is supported through a gift by Mitchell College of Business alumnus Christopher Melton in honor of his parents, Carl and Jewel Melton. |
