University of South Alabama Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions Dean Dr. Richard Talbott and his wife, Rosemary, have given property worth $75,000 to USA to be used for scholarships and to support the Chi Omega Amphitheatre.
The Talbotts’ have designated $10,000 for the Chi Omega Amphitheatre near Moulton Belltower and Alumni Plaza. Mrs. Talbott, a Chi Omega alumna, has worked on the project for several years.
In addition, the Talbott’s gift of Dauphin Island property will be sold by the University in order to begin or enhance different scholarship endowments, including:
- An enhancement of the Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority Endowed Scholarship Fund
- An additional scholarship within the Chi Omega Sorority to be named the Cardinal and Straw Endowed Scholarship
- A new endowed scholarship for students in the College of Allied Health Professionals to be named the Dr. Richard E. Talbott Dean’s Endowed Scholarship Fund
“This is an exciting time in South’s development, and it’s a privilege to be involved with the bright, high-achieving young women in Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega and the students in the College of Allied Health Professions,” Dr. and Mrs. Talbott said in a joint statement. “We are proud of Chi Omega’s accomplishments-winners of the Dean’s Cup honoring the top Greek women’s group for sixteen years in a row-and their willingness to contribute a useful and lasting gift of the Amphitheatre to the University.”
