Gardening Expert Felder Rushing Visits USA

Rushing and Culler

Mississippi Public Broadcasting gardening expert and author Felder Rushing visited the University of South Alabama campus recently to deliver a public lecture at the USA Main Library Auditorium. His latest book is titled, Slow Gardening: A No-Stress Philosophy for All Senses and All Seasons.

While on campus, he photographed and admired student art glass, which was installed in the arbor at the entrance of the Glass Arts facility. The steel arbor structure was planned by Glass Arts faculty Rene Culler and Matthew Peterson. Peterson sculpted the structure with student assistance.

During Rushing’s visit, he helped students plant a garden of indigenous plants near the Glass Arts building.

The Glass Arts program, which began classes in 2010, has close to 90 students enrolled. The program has two full-time faculty, Culler and Patterson, as well as one adjunct faculty member, Rachel Wright.
