The University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business recently hosted a seminar for the Bedsole Scholars, college students from across southwest Alabama who have received scholarships from the J.L. Bedsole Foundation. The students, who are selected based on their leadership skills and potential, are encouraged to stay in Alabama for their careers.
Five USA Mitchell College of Business professors conducted a leadership seminar for freshmen scholarship students and upperclassmen.
Leadership Seminar I, aimed at the freshmen scholars, focused on self-knowledge and goal-setting. Leadership Seminar II, which was targeted to upperclassmen, explored leadership styles, communication and team-building skills. The instructors were management professors Drs. Ed Harrison, Jeanne Maes, Don Mosley, Paul Pietri and Robert Shearer.
Pietri organized the seminars, which have been held annually since 2008. He said that this year’s class of 75 marked the largest number of visiting Bedsole Scholars to USA, with students from 12 universities and colleges across the state. |
