AAMC Chief Scientific Officer
to Present Feb. 14 Seminar

Dr. Ann Bonham, chief scientific officer of the American Association of Medical Colleges, will visit the USA campus Feb. 14 to present a Distinguished Scientist Seminar.

Bonham directs the AAMC’s array of programs that support all aspects of research and training. As the primary AAMC contact for external research organizations, Bonham addresses policy issues affecting research through engagement with key officials in the public and private sectors. Bonham also works closely with AAMC constituents to address their research needs and represents the association on the national stage in forums dealing with research policy and administration.

Prior to joining the association, Bonham served as executive associate dean for academic affairs and professor of pharmacology and internal medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, where she oversaw the school’s research, undergraduate medical education, and faculty academic programs. Bonham received her doctoral degree in pharmacology from the University of Iowa, College of Medicine, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Northwestern University School of Medicine.

All interested faculty are invited to join Bonham for a luncheon meeting, 11:30 a.m.—1 p.m., in Shelby Hall and 4—5:30 p.m. for her presentation, “The Social Contract of Biomedical Research in Fiscally Perilous Times,” in the auditorium on the first floor of the Medical Science Building.
