University of South Alabama Senior Connor Favreau was recently selected as a Portz Scholar for his undergraduate thesis at the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in Boston. He was one of four students nationwide to receive the award.
Each year, member universities, like USA, are allowed to nominate one thesis for the national award. Favreau’s thesis, "A Christian Existentialist Approach to Euthyphro’s Dilemma,” was chosen from over 50 other thesis projects. The award also comes with a stipend.
Favreau is a double major in philosophy and physics. As a member of the USA Honors Program, he was required to complete an undergraduate thesis to graduate with honors. He will graduate in the spring.
“The honors program has been a great place to grow as both a student and a person,” said Favreau. “Winning this award symbolized, for me, one of those rare, unforgettable moments when you actually see the fruits of your passionate labor.”
The USA Honors program has had three Portz scholars in the past seven years.
