Audrey Lucas, a Fall 2012 graduate of the USA Bachelor of Social Work program, is serving as the undergraduate student representative on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Social Workers.
The National Association of Social Workers, based in Washington, DC, is the largest organization representing professional social work in the United States and has 145,000 members. Lucas was selected for this position while completing her field placement at the NASW national office.
Lucas, who is from Wilmer, graduated with a 4.0 GPA from USA and has been accepted for the Fall 2013 semester to the Master of Social Work program at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She plans on concentrating in social and economic development with a specialization in research.
Her past experience includes volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama and the Bay Area Food Bank. Her professional interests include social policy and program development, issues related to gender and sexuality, disability policy, and rural social work.
