USA Elects New Student Government Association Officers

The University of South Alabama has announced the results of the Student Government Association officer elections for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Riley Davis, 21, of Mobile, Ala., will serve as president. She is a senior, majoring in criminal justice in the College of Arts and Sciences, who served as SGA chief justice. She is a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta. She also has served as SGA freshman at large her freshman year, SGA senator, and received the SGA Committee Chairperson of the Year award in 2011-2012. She is the daughter of James H. Davis, Jr. and Patricia Davis.

William Pearson, 22, of Daphne, Ala., will serve as vice president. He is a senior majoring in information systems in the School of Computing. He has also served as SGA senator. Pearson is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, where he has been recognized with the top brother award, top new member, and President�s award. He is also a member of the History Club, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow, American Computing and Machinery, and serves as the IFC vice president of recruitment. He is the son of Donald and Karen Pearson.

Sidney W. Jackson, IV., 21, of Fairhope, Ala., will serve as treasurer. He is a junior majoring in accounting in the Mitchell College of Business. He is also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity where he serves as vice president, and was previously the SGA associate justice. He is the son of Sid and Alyson Jackson.

The purpose of the SGA is to protect and advance student interests as well as to promote the welfare of the student body. The organization operates as a constitutional democracy and is comprised of executive, judicial and legislative branches.
