University of South Alabama Department of Music is introducing the All-Steinway Piano Initiative, a $1million fund-raising program that aims to provide the department with 21 Steinway pianos for practice and performance. The initiative will give students and faculty the best equipment possible and demonstrate a commitment to excellence. Benefactors may donate money or pianos.
It is essential that we provide the finest tools for quality teaching and performing, Music Department Chair Dr. Greg Gruner said. As a benefactor in our music family, your generosity will continue to provide the department with inspiration and resources to further the pursuit of excellence in music.
The music department kicked off the fund-raising last month with a recreation of Horowitzs final Moscow recitals using his personal touring piano, the famous Steinway & Sons Model CD503 piano. After the concert, attendees were given the opportunity to play on Horowitzs legendary piano.
