Liz Freeman was recently named chair of the development council at University of South Alabama Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

Freeman, vice president of administration and technology and an owner of Long’s Human Resource Services in Mobile, served on the council since its inception in 2012.  Her relationship with Children’s & Women’s began when her daughter was a patient, and she has been a supporter and champion for the hospital ever since.

“My husband and I have experienced firsthand the gut wrenching, helpless feeling parents have when a child is suffering from a serious illness,” Freeman said. “We are incredibly blessed to have the specialized care that Children’s & Women’s provides in our own back yard.”

Freeman assumed the role of chair in September when Dr. Steven Furr left to become chair of the University of South Alabama Board of Trustees. She has been instrumental in helping develop the council and in engaging former-patient families with the hospital.

“Liz is a passionate supporter of our facility,” said Children’s & Women’s Administrator Owen Bailey. She is ideal choice to lead our development council, where she will serve as both an advocate and representative of our hospital.”

The mission of the development council is to assist development staff in securing private gift support, and to help create awareness and increase community engagement with the hospital.
