Chairman welcomed new trustees. Moved to dispense with reading of minutes and same should be mailed. Reference Executive Committee meeting of June 7th authorizing purchase of 45 acres and 42.75 acres of land. Both parcels have been purchased and funds borrowed from Mobile Banks. Approved sublease agreement to the University an additional 80 acres of land adjoining and directly west of the two 40 acre parcels now under sublease upon the same terms from the Mobile County Foundation for Public Higher Education. Appointment of Senator Cooper and Mr. Green to the Executive Committee. Enrollment report. Dr. Traxler and Dr. John Cummer were introduced as prospects for the faculty. Importance of library. Full time faculty were presented. Motion passed to apply for $900,000 which was available by the Alabama Public School and College Authority under the provisions of ACT 243, special session, 1965. Motion passed to invest any surplus money in Government Bonds. Statement of Conditions dated October 31, 1965 were presented. Recommended letter of appreciation to Senator Metdalf. (Attached) Resolution for financing the classroom building. (Attachment Project No. 5-0100) was presented and approved. Reference - Board of Trustees Minutes dated 6-6-66. President was authorized to make temporary loan for construction of dormitories until such time the legal commitment from the Department of Health Education and Welfare is received.
