Career Services

Career Services provides programming to support a student’s career planning, including resume services, interview preparation, internship support and job shadowing opportunities. Career Services also manages Handshake, USA’s platform to connect students, alumni and employers. Handshake allows students the opportunity to research and apply for on and off campus job opportunities.

Counseling and Testing

The University of South Alabama Counseling and Testing Services provides confidential, free counseling and crisis intervention services. These services are open to all eligible USA students.

Dean of Students

The Dean of Students Office is a central point for student concerns. The staff work to facilitate the retention, academic progress and graduation success of all our students. The Dean of Students programming includes student activities, multicultural student support, student disability services, counseling and testing, and more.

With the support of the Dean of Students, Student Academic Success, and the SGA, USA has an established food pantry in the Academic Services Center. Donor to Diner, a service level student organization supports and maintains the food pantry, which provides students with non-perishable food items and personal supplies. Student Academic Success

Student Academic Success (SAS) supports the mission of the University by developing, implementing, and assessing initiatives and practices to ensure your students success. SAS houses Academic Advising and Transfer Services and the Center for Academic Excellence, which offers individual and small group tutoring as well as writing consultations for courses in any discipline.

Student Run Free Clinic

The University of South Alabama Student-Run Free Clinic (USA SRFC) is student-led initiative with the purpose of enhancing wellness amongst underserved populations in Mobile, Alabama. Through the USA SRFC, students across multiple health and social science disciplines collaborate to empower patients through health education, the promotion of health literacy, and improving access to community health resources. The clinic aims to provide experiential learning for students to practice clinical and communication skills, while also improving sensitivity to vulnerable populations and promoting a lifelong commitment to service.
