About Us

As a department of the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Campus Involvement seeks to provide students with developmental opportunities beyond the scope of the classroom through involvement in activities, campus and community service, and student organizations. The office is responsible for the registration and supervision of nearly 200 student clubs and organizations ranging from social to professional/departmental, religious organizations, honor societies and special interest groups. There is something for everyone! A current list is available under “Student Organizations,” and forming a new interest group is easy. Just contact our office in the Student Center, Room 129.

The Office of Greek Life, located in the Student Center, Room 129, oversees our 17 sororities and fraternities and the three governing councils: National Pan-Hellenic Council, College Panhellenic Council, and the Interfraternity Council. Fall Formal Recruitment for College Panhellenic occurs the week before classes begin, and the Interfraternity Council groups recruit the first week of fall classes. The National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities will hold interest meetings in fall and spring with intake taking place later in the year. For information on these events, call 460-7003, or visit the Greek Affairs website.

Leadership Development is another important aspect of the Office of Campus Involvement, and the Freshman Leadership Council has become our emerging leaders program. Qualified freshmen apply and interview for this prestigious council and become our liaison to the rest of the freshman class. Upperclassmen apply in the spring for the Freshman Advisory Board, another excellent retention program whose members mentor freshmen as they adjust to their first year in college. Leadership development opportunities are also available through the many seminars and speakers jointly sponsored through the Office of Campus Involvement and other departments within the Division of Student Affairs.

Community Service opportunities abound at South Alabama, and our office can help get students connected. Through Volunteer Mobile and community schools, agencies, hospitals, children’s homes and day-care sites, we are able to answer many of the requests for student volunteers. We also sponsor Alternative Spring Break each year as an opportunity for students to give time and effort to assisting those less fortunate. Get connected through the Office of Campus Involvement and Greek Life, Student Center 129, (251) 460-7003.
