United Way Call Center
Are you looking for a meaningful way to impact our community? United Way of Southwest Alabama's 2-1-1 is looking for volunteers to work in their Call Center. These volunteers will answer calls and provide information on resources in the community such as food pantries, homeless shelters, support groups, summer education programs for children, and many other resources for individuals and families. The network of call centers in Alabama work together when disaster hits to provide vital information to the community. Shelter information, potable water, food and medical services are several of the needs addressed. Shifts are available weekdays, 8am to 4pm. Lifeline's Rape Crisis Center
Volunteers are needed to provide advocacy to victims of sexual assault, accompany victims through the forensic exam at USA Children and Women’s Hospital and other local hospitals, accompany victims to meetings with court/ law enforcement, and answer crisis calls. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 2 – 24-hour shifts per month or 4 – 12-hour shifts per month. Volunteers must have reliable transportation and pass a background check. All potential volunteers are asked to attend a screening interview and will receive specialized training for the various areas that they will volunteer in. IRS Volunteer Tax Program
Are you looking to learn a new skill while helping those in your community? The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, or VITA, is looking for volunteers to help prepare tax returns in communities across Mobile. No previous experience required and training is provided on-campus.
VITA sites provide free income tax preparation for low-to-moderate income taxpayers who need help filing their returns. VITA sites are located in community centers, libraries, and other convenient locations. Vita has flexible hours so you can volunteer on your own schedule! If interested we are requesting that volunteers register on the United Way website so they may contact you with more information.

Time-Limited Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking for volunteer hours to put on your professional resume? Want to meet employers interested in hiring Jags for Full-time, Part-time, Internship and Co-op positions? If so, consider volunteering for employer assistance with set-up at Career Services' upcoming Spring Career Fair.
This event is scheduled for Thursday, February 9th, at the Mitchell Center. Their need for volunteers is mainly between 10:30am-1:30 pm and 3;30pm-4:30 pm. To participate please fill out the form at this link and contact the Career Services office at (251) 460-6188 before Tuesday, February 7th.
