I have been awarded a sabbatical for the spring and 2013 centered on teacher leadership which I hope to incorporate an international experience. I have had the privilege of presenting at professional conferences in London and Sydney. |

Professional Experience: |

Throughout my 17 years as an educator, I have been a classroom teacher, reading coach, and I am currently a College of Education faculty member. I continually work with preservice and inservice teachers. I spend much of my time in local schools, and conducting literacy and mentoring professional development for Alabama's State Department of Education. |

Biographical Information: |

Born and raised in Mobile, a product of local public schools and universities, I have a vested interest in improving the educational system in Mobile and surrounding communities. My husband, Derek, is an RN at USA Medical Center. My son Andrew and daughter Mary Elizabeth keep me grounded as they are my world. My extended family all live nearby and are an integral part of my life. I enjoy the beach, boating, reading and Alabama football! |

International Collaboration Interests: |

Teaching short term courses internationally specifically related to the teaching of reading, writing, and teacher leadership; designing and developing field experience exchange programs for students in P - 12 schools; and engaging in collaborative research related to teacher leadership, mentoring and inducting new teachers into the profession, literacy education, and implementing technology in P - 20 classrooms. |
