Russia 
Russia again on the rise, but how should U.S. respond? 

As Charlie Rose interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Economic Forum in St. Petersburg this past weekend, I was a few blocks away talking with Russians about similar issues. I am an historian at the University of South Alabama and have been traveling to Russia and other states of the former Soviet Union for more than 20 years. Last week, I visited our students in Russia who are in a program organized by Russian language professor and Birmingham native, Nicholas Gossett. University of South Alabama is breaking new ground here as few Southern schools lead study abroad programs to Russia. (Read More)
