Discover Odyssey USA
Odyssey USA is the University of South Alabama's Institute for Learning in Retirement. It is a membership organization made of a community of learners with inquisitive minds who share the love of learning at any age. Members come from a variety of backgrounds to learn and enrich their time together. They design their own classes based on the interests and intellectual curiosity of the group.
Classes are usually held on Friday afternoons on USA's main campus and during this time you will see more than 125 members participating in a variety of classes. Classes are challenging and thought-provoking with mind-stretching activities on a wide variety of topics. Class instructors are community experts, University faculty, and fellow Odyssey members.
Luncheon Lectures and Field Trips
To enhance the camaraderie among members, Odyssey also sponsors monthly luncheon lectures and special field trips. Luncheon lectures generally focus on issues and happenings in the community. Field trips are usually organized in conjunction with class offerings.
There are no formal requirements for membership to Odyssey USA other than an interest in being a continuous learner. You also need not be retired, nor are there any academic or experience requirements.
