Since January 1988 the Coastal Weather Research Center has been providing services for business and industry. Initially, all weather communication was done by telephone only. However, by the end of the first year, the Weather Center developed the Computerized Weather Information Service. Using a modem, weather forecasts and data could be acquired within seconds. In 1989, the Center added a weather facsimile service called Stormcheck. All three services are designed to deliver accurate and timely information and at the same time meet a client's budget. The services offered are:

Storm Warning:
Storm warning is our most comprehensive service. The Weather Center will place a call to your business to warn of approaching severe weather. This service is available 24 hours-a-day seven days-a-week. The service also includes the use of the Computerized Weather Information Service and Stormcheck. Also, if you need to talk to the meteorologist-on-duty during normal working hours, you can call us!

Computerized Weather Information Service:
The Weather Center provides an array of information, forecasts, and warnings on its Computerized Weather Information Service. This 24 hour-a-day service is designed to combine Weather Center and National Weather Service products. Special discussions on severe weather and hurricanes provide an in-depth analysis of what the weather means to your area. In addition, each forecast issued by the Coastal Weather Research Center is followed by a forecast discussion. This discussion breaks down the forecast into easy to understand terminology. Computerized Weather is a user friendly system! Of course, if you want to talk to the meteorologist-on-duty, you can call the Weather Center during normal working hours. Now available: The Blackwell Over-surface Hurricane Wind (BLOHW) Model.

Stormcheck:
Stormcheck is Coastal Weather's facsimile service. This handy data sheet is faxed every morning and afternoon Monday through Friday. The FAX contains the forecast, a discussion, marine information, a surface map, and special data as needed. During the winter, when a hard freeze is expected within 48 hours, Stormcheck will have a supplement that will show the projected hourly temperature profile for the next 48 hours. In this way you can quickly see the trends and determine the number of hours the mercury will be above or below critical values. In addition, with this service and all others, you can call the Weather Center and talk to the meteorologist-on-duty during normal working hours.
