Alhpa Psi Omega

InAlpha Psi Omega National Honorary Theatre Fraternity was founded
in 1925 at Fairmont College and at the moment has over 550 casts or
chapters which makes it the largest national honor society in America.
The Cast here at USA is the Chi Omega Cast and was originally
initiated in the late 1960's soon after the establishment of the Dramatic
Arts Department.
Membership qualifications can be traced to the Fraternity Motto: To
seek a life useful: We seek to become humble artists through the one
and only road of labor and service.
Therefore those tapped for membership must meet certain
1. There is a national academic standard that must be adhered to.
Initiates must have at least a 2.5 G.P.A.
2. Members must meet a set requirement of points for labor and
service in multiple areas of production: performance, technical
work, front of house, stage management, running crews, design,
directing, etc. These can be accrued not only in main stage
productions, but Black Box Productions.
3. Members must be actively participating in USA Jester Events
such as showcases like“Christmas Carol” for the Mobile Public
Library, the Murder Mystery Party with Jag Productions, The
Christmas Tree Decorating Competition, etc..
The fraternity Colors: Light Blue and Amber (In reference to "No
Color Blue" and "Bastard Amber," the two most popular theatre
lighting gels)
The fraternity Flower: African Violet
