Welcome Message from the President of SAE |
|||
Hello everyone
My
name is Benjamin O'Mary and I will be the president of SAE (Society of
Automotive Engineers) for the 2004-2005 school year. The
vice-president will be Nathan Whatley and secretary will be David Tacchi.
I hope you are all having a great summer. I know mine has been a
busy one, but well worth it. Just to give a little update, the mini
Baja team recently competed in the Midwest competition just outside of
Milwaukee, Wisconsin and we placed 87 and 89 overall out of 137 cars.
Not the greatest results but I've learned a lot from this competition.
I have high hopes and big ideas for next year's car now that I've seen how
the competition works, but it can't be done without the help of you.
I
am asking that anyone interested or thinking of working with the Baja cars
in the future, to join SAE. I believe the membership fee is $10
for a year. To join, you can go to http://www.sae.org/servlets/preLogin?REQUEST_TYPE=StudentApplication and
you will be asked for some information to see if you are already in the
database, if you are not found it will continue on with the sign-up
process. Once you have joined, I ask that you send me your name and
SAE number you will be given to bmo301@jaguar1.usouthal.edu, so
that I can document the number of people for SGA funding.
Joining
is great but also I would like to invite everyone of you to help work on
building the car for next year. We are going to need all of the help
we can get and for any Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors that are
considering doing the Baja car as their senior design project, this would
be great experience when it comes time to build your own car. If you
are not a hands-on type of person, don't worry, there are still many
other things we could use your help with, such as a website, reports,
AutoCAD drawings, etc.
Thanks
for taking the time to read this letter, I know it was long. Again,
I ask that everyone who is interested in SAE to please join and send me an
e-mail to bmo301@jaguar1.usouthal.edu with
your name and the SAE number that was given to you. Also, everyone
is more than welcome to help work on the car when we get started on it in
the fall. I will have a meeting shortly after school starts in the
fall for all of those who are interested in helping with the car.
Thank You, |
