Are courses taught by regular faculty or do graduate students teach classes?

Only regular faculty teach courses in Mechanical Engineering. Graduate students may assist in laboratories but do not teach classes. General engineering (EG) courses are usually taught three times a year. Mechanical engineering courses for 100-300 level courses are taught twice a year and senior courses (400 level) are taught once a year.

Are the engineering laboratories up to date?

Yes. A $11.00 fee per semester hour, together with University funds, ensure that adequate laboratory equipment is purchased and maintained. Our labs include Mechatronics (Instrumentation and Controls)  (EGLB 132), Materials (EGLB 134A), and the CAD lab (EGLB 208) that is available to all mechanical engineering students.  Students will take FORTRAN or C++  in their sophomore year but also need to learn word processing [WORD], spreadsheets [EXCEL], and a presentation package [PowerPoint] to be able to do reports and labs.  We also have two research laboratories EGCB 230 Computational Fluids Lab and EGLB 130 Materials Laboratory.  Upper level undergraduate and graduate students do research in these labs.
