Dr.
Sebastian Nature Trail
In early 2007, the
USA Nature Trail was renamed to honor Dr. Glenn
Sebastian for his 40 years of service to
students, faculty and staff of USA and the
community of Mobile. The USA Nature Trail has been
a part of campus for nearly 30 years, and was
officially recognized by USA in 2006. Thanks to
the efforts of Gamma Theta Upsilon (GTU), then
president of GTU Amy Milam and student/faculty
volunteers, the trail was cleaned up so that the
plants, animals and landscape of the northern edge
of campus could be enjoyed by all.
Dr. Glenn Sebastian,
being a geographer and former National Park
Service Ranger, has utilized the trail throughout
the years by taking various student groups from
the university as well as civic and religious
groups from the community through natural flora
and fauna landscape. When Dr. Sebastian announced
his retirement in 2006, a proposal was made by USA
students and faculty to rename the USA Nature
Trail after him to honor his contributions to USA
throughout his over 40 year career. In January
2007 it was announced that President Moulton had
approved the renaming of the Nature Trail to the
Dr. Sebastian Nature Trail.
