Application process

AADSAS (Associated American Dental Schools Application Service) is the official application service for 54 of 59 dental schools. The participating dental schools can be found here. The other dental schools require direct application.

Deadlines for applications vary by school, ranging from September to May 1.

Undergraduate course requirements

Major- Choose a major in an area that interests you. You do not have to be a science major to go to dental school. However, you must complete certain course requirements. Most dental schools require the same courses as medical schools, listed below:

     1 year of physics with lab
     1 year of general chemistry with lab
     1 year of organic chemistry with lab
     1 year of biology with lab
     1 year of english

Requirements do vary between schools. Be sure to check with the individual dental schools as to their specific requirements.
