The goal of this document is to help you to explore and consider scholarship opportunities within your discipline while a student at the University of South Alabama.

Scholarship Opportunities

Faculty should encourage students (GPAs over 3.7) interested in the 
following programs to contact Dr. Marsha Hamilton at 
mhamilton@southalabama.edu for more information. 

Fall Deadlines: 
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars 
(www.twc.edu; opportunities to work and study in Washington, D.C. for 
academic credit at USA) 

Fulbright Program (www.us.fulbrightonline.org; international graduate 
study programs in more than 150 countries) 

Rhodes Scholarships (www.rhodesscholar.org; two or three years of 
post-graduate study at the University of Oxford) 

Marshall Scholarships (www.marshallscholarship.org/applications/
graduate study at an institution of higher education in the United Kingdom) 

Early Winter Deadlines: 
Harry S. Truman Scholarship (www.truman.gov; up to three years of study 
leading to a career in government or other public service; apply in 
junior year.) 

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship (www.woodrow.org
undergraduate and graduate fellowship for students pursuing degrees in 
international studies and interested in careers in the foreign service; 
apply as juniors, seniors for grad fellowship) 

Institute for International Public Policy (www.uncfsp.org/IIPP
scholarship and institutes for students from traditionally 
under-represented minority groups interested in careers in international 
affairs; apply as sophomore) 

Morris K. Udall Scholarship (www.udall.gov; for students with career 
plans related to environmental public policy or Native American and 
Alaska Native undergraduates interested in health care and tribal public 
policy; apply as sophomores or juniors)

available. Students in the arts, humanities and social sciences should
