SEPULGA RIVER
Come join Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventures as we paddle the Sepulga River on Saturday, October 13. This is a 6.8mile four hour paddle along 5 – 10 foot high banks lined with thick brush and forest including hickory, dogwood, magnolia, and longleaf pine trees. Black-eyed Susans add color to the banks and reflect brilliantly off the muddy brown water. Blue herons and a wide variety of woodpeckers will be spotted. Besides long, peaceful stretches of float time, there are numerous shoals. Due to the length of the trip, this trip is not recommended for beginners.
We will leave the Recreation Center at 7 a.m. and drive 2 hours to Evergreen, Alabama. We will put in around 10 a.m., eat lunch on the river, and finish around 2 p.m. We will arrive back in Mobile around 5 p.m.
Cost: $25 for students, $27 for family members, $30 for faculty/staff/alums, $32 for family members, $35 for non-USA. Fee includes transportation, canoes, kayaks and accessories. Does not include food (we will provide coolers).
How to sign-up: Leave a check payable to “U.S.A.” (sorry, no cash) along with your name and cell phone number at the Reception Desk of the Administrative Offices of the Student Recreation Center between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday - Friday. We will call you to confirm your place on the trip along with more information. We will accept registrants up until day prior to trip if space is available.
