MKT 336: International Marketing: Introduction
Secondary/Data Sources

This assignment guide was created to assist students in locating secondary/data sources for course related international marketing group projects.

The fundamental objective of the project is to develop a thorough understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in developing and marketing products and services for global markets.

The first part of the project involves analyzing a country's geographical, social/cultural, economic, regulatory & political environments as well as technological readiness. The second part of the project concerns the development of a marketing plan for a specific product/service within an assigned country.

The guide focuses on suggested strategies and best places to begin research efforts. For information & assistance in using any of the sources, please contact library staff:

For specialized assistance, please contact the Business Reference Librarian to set up a consultation appointment:

Country Analysis      Competitive Analysis/Industry      Marketing Plan/4 P's
Brand/Product      Demographics/Target Market      Citation Style Guides

Rather than just surfing the Internet to collect information for this project and then sorting through a myriad of links and evaluating those for relevancy, this guide provides access to sources that have been proven reliable and on target for information needs.  If you don't find the specific type of information you are looking for to complete your project, please ask for assistance in locating additional sources.

Utilizing Multinational Business Portals:

Portals are excellent for one-stop shopping and are a great place to get started or to browse a wealth of available information for Multinational Business.  They are extremely comprehensive so information will need to be sorted through to find relevant sources.  Students may wish to save time by consulting other areas of this guide for more concise information relevant to their project.

Everything International (Russow/Philadephia University) - "Provides links to a wide variety of international business, education, and research internet sites."

globalEDGE:  International Business Resource Desk (Michigan State University) - Browse the wealth of data links by categories 'country insights', 'global resources', or 'market potential indicators'.

VIBES - Virtual International Business & Economic Sources (UNC Charlotte) - "This website provides over 2,000 links to Internet sources of international business and economic information that are in English and free of charge."
