MKT 492: Seminar - International Marketing: Company Profiles
Secondary/Data Sources
This assignment guide was created to assist students in locating secondary/data sources for course related international marketing projects.

North American Industry Classification System (U.S. Census Bureau)
Search for industry codes for use in the databases below.
Business & Company Resource Center
A comprehensive database for industry and company information including company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and periodicals. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information. Coverage is from 1980 to the present.
- Click on the 'Company' graphic from the database home page.
- Enter a country name in the last search box. You may also enter a NAICS code for your industry. Click on the 'Search' button.
- From the results list, click on a specific company.
- Review the tabs across the top of the screen for information including news, company history, investment reports, financials and products.
- Click on the 'Company Profile' tab at the top of the screen and look to the left of the screen for company news broken down by topic/functional area (products & services, sales & marketing, statistics, strategy and planning).
Lexis-Nexis Academic
- Click on 'Business' in red at the top of the screen.
- To the right on the screen choose 'Company Dossier'.
- Enter the company's name and click on the red search button to the top right of the screen.
- When the company's dossier appears, the company snapshot report automatically appears as the default report.
- Other available reports include: In the news, corporate hierarchy, financial information, legal information, intellectual property information, and references.
2nd Search: - To the right on the screen choose 'Country Profiles'.
- Use the pull-down menu to select your country and then use the pull-down menu to select your source from the source list.
Mergent Online
USA Library subscribes to the U.S. Company and International Company Data modules that provide a wealth of data for over 15,000 NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ companies & over 20,000 non-US based corporations.
1st Search:
- Conduct a 'Basic Search' for a list of companies operating within a specific industry within a country. Use the pull-down menu to select a country. Next, enter the NAICS code for the industry and click on the 'Search' button.
- Next, click on your company's name on the results list.
- Click on the various tabs across the top of the screen for detailed information (Company Details, Company Financials, EDGAR (SEC Documents), News, & Tear Sheets (Stock performance snapshot)).
2nd Search:
- Look at the bottom of the search screen on the database home page for 'Country Profile'.
- Use the pull-down menu to select your country; also see the pull-down menu for 'Enhanced Country Profile'.
