The mission of the Advisory Committee on Diversity is to identify and to develop creative strategies and initiatives for the recruitment and retention of African-American faculty and administrators. The committee is appointed by and reports to the President. The committee was appointed in 2002. At least fifty percent of the committee is African-American derived from a slate of nominations presented to the President by African-American faculty and administrators. The remaining members are selected from other University faculty and administrators. The Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as chair of the committee.
