If your interests are in a career
in the health professions or in biomedical research, this is
the place for you. The Biomedical Sciences major is a
unique opportunity for undergraduates to focus on human biology,
from normal structure and function, to diseases, defense mechanisms,
molecular biology, pharmacology, and the science behind current
medicine.
We challenge our students with demanding courses, but we also provide
help for every student to succeed. We measure the success of our efforts
by the achievements of our graduates.
From small beginnings and two graduates in 1988, we now have about
400 majors, with 35-40 graduates each year. Over 60% of our graduates have
been accepted into postbaccalaureate programs; about 40% of our graduates have
been accepted to medical schools.
We welcome visits, emails, and phone calls. Feel free to contact
us if you are interested in finding out more about Biomedical Sciences at South.
