Cardiovascular
technologists are involved in non-invasive and invasive
cardiology.
Students
and graduates of the baccalaureate degree in the cardiopulmonary
science program at the University of South Alabama are
eligible to sit for the Certified Cardiographic Technician
(CCT) Examination. Program
graduates are eligible for Non-invasive (Echocardiography)
Registry (RCS) Examination after working at least six
months in the field of
echocardiography.
Cardiovascular technologists can earn the
following four credentials:
· certified
cardiographic technician (CCT)
— working
in EKG, stress testing and holter monitoring
· registered
cardiovascular sonographer (RCS)
— working
primarily in echocardiography
· registered
cardiovascular invasive specialist (RCIS)
— working
in cardiac catheterization, or in invasive cardiovascular
laboratories
· registered
vascular specialist (RVS)
— working
in vascular ultrasound
