Students enrolled in the Cardiorespiratory Care program at the University
of South Alabama receive clinical experience at eleven health
care facilities. The students benefit from rotating among these
eleven hospitals because each hospital is run
differently. The group of hospitals
belonging to the University of South Alabama are teaching and research centers. The
other clinical affiliates are categorized as either for-profit, non-profit, or
hospice.
Students earn valuable clinical experience from exposure to these diverse types

The University
of South Alabama Medical
Center is a 346-bed acute care facility which serves as the primary teaching
hospital for the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. It is the major
referral center for southern Alabama, southern Mississippi, and portions of northwest
Florida, offering centers for Level I trauma, burns, cancer, cardiovascular disease,
strokes, organ transplant and sickle cell disease. Its sophisticated technology

West is a 100-bed acute
care facility
offering medical and surgical services, as well as a 24-hour emergency center.
An assortment of unique programs are available at Infirmary West,
including a comprehensive Outpatient Surgery Center, the USA Regional Stroke
Center, the USA Regional Breast Care Center, USA Digestive Diseases Center, and
the USA Sleep Disorders Center. Other services include a 24-hour physician staffed

Since opening the area's first hospital in
1915,
Sacred Heart Health System has grown into the regional leader

is a 449-bed acute care facility located in Pensacola, Florida,
