Ausubel's Criteria for Advance Organizers:

1. It is a brief, abstract prose passage.
   
2. The foundation of the prose passage is that it shows similarities between old material and new material.
   
3. Without substantial similarities, an advance organizer is not possible.
   
4. It is an introduction to a new lesson, unit, or course.
   
5. It is an abstract outline of new information and is a restatement of prior knowledge.
   
6. It provides the students with a structure for the new information.
   
7. It encourages students to transfer or apply what they know.
   
8. It consists of content having considerable intellectual substance, material which is more than common knowledge.
