Reflection and articulation have been shown to facilitate problem solving through schema acquisition, monitoring cognitive load, and goal management. Reflection has been shown to reduce cognitive overload and enhance transfer. Articulation also regulates cognitive load while making the learner more aware of his or her thought processes during problem solving by monitoring cognitive processes. This study researches the stimulation of reflection by reflective articulation and completion using worked problems with electronic spreadsheets on a microcomputer.
