The 2nd Annual IDD Picnic & Fun Run was a huge success! A large group of IDD students, staff, faculty, family, friends, and pets turned out to enjoy the festivities. The weather cooperated with clear skies and temperatures in the low 80s. In the men's fun run, IDD professor Burke Johnson and Ed Leadership professor Joseph Newman waged an epic battle over the tough 2 mile course. After trading the lead back and forth, Dr. Johnson won with a new fun run record time of 15:32. Dr. Newman came in second and Associate Dean Tom Chilton repeated his third place finish of the previous year. In the women's race, Gichiru Kinuthia won with a time of 20:06. IDD Student Group President Joe'l Lewis finished second and Dr. Mary Ann Robinson came in third. After the run, everyone enjoyed great food and relaxing in the beautiful park. Counseling professor Dr. Charlie Guest and IDD masters students Josh Gilliam and Michael Sheehan did great work in getting the fire started and grilling the food. The menu included hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, tabuli, beans, cookies, and lots of other great food.
