Areas of interest and expertise:
Higher education administration, global/international
education, student retention and success.
International Experience:
I lived and worked in Russia for two years in the mid-90s. This adventure increased my desire to travel abroad and experience other cultures. My duties in the College of Education have allowed me to travel to Finland and Spain, and to be involved in international program development. I currently serve as the College’s representative on USA’s Council on International Education.
B.A., Communication Arts, University of West Florida, 1992
M.A., Communication Arts, University of Alabama, 1994
Ph.D., Educational Leadership,  University of Alabama at Birmingham & University of Alabama, December 2006
  Professional Experience:
I began my career in higher education working in the Registrar’s Office. I then transitioned to academic advising and Schools/Colleges of Education, where I have largely remained. My experience in other areas of higher education includes alumni affairs, instruction, and student recruitment and retention. Courses taught include: Freshman seminar, introduction to teaching, history of American higher education, student development theory, higher education law, and leadership theory.
  International Collaboration Interests:
I view international collaboration very favorably and would welcome the opportunity to teach in a foreign university, take USA students overseas, assist in creating an academic international program, or help host a visiting scholar from a foreign country.
