  The Department offers the Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class A Certification in the following areas: Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading Education, Secondary Education (Art Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science), and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12, Early Childhood Special Education and Gifted).  
     
  The Department also offers the Alternative Master’s degree (M.Ed) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class A Certification in the following areas: Elementary Education, Secondary Education (Art Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science, French, Spanish, German) and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12, and Early Childhood Special Education).  
     
  The Department also offers the Instruction Specialist degree (Ed.S.) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class AA Certification in Educational Leadership and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12, and Gifted).
