  The Department offers the Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class A Certification in the following areas: Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading Education, Secondary Education (Art Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science), and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12, Early Childhood Special Education and Gifted).  
     
  The Department also offers the Alternative Master’s degree (M.Ed) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class A Certification in the following areas: Elementary Education, Secondary Education (Art Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science, French, Spanish, German) and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12, and Early Childhood Special Education).  
     
  The Department also offers the Instruction Specialist degree (Ed.S.) to prepare candidates for Alabama Class AA Certification in Educational Leadership, Elementary and Early Childhood Education, English Language Arts, General Science, Mathematics, General Social Science  and Special Education (Collaborative Teaching K-6, Collaborative Teaching 6-12).
