Undergraduate
students with an interest in biomedical research
are invited to apply for a Summer Undergraduate
Research Fellowship in a molecular and cellular
pharmacology research laboratory. The applicants
are evaluated on the basis of grade point average,
a statement of research interests, and recommendations
from at least two faculty members at the student's
institution. Participants are provided a stipend
of $3,000 for a full-time commitment of 12 weeks.

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
is a full time commitment. Fellows should not
be employed or taking classes during the 12 weeks
that they are conduction research in the Department.
In addition to the research project, Summer Research
Fellows participate in a weekly research discussion
with a different faculty member each week.
Research Fellows also participate in a campus-wide
undergraduate research program that includes students
from biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering,
speech pathology and audiology, archaeology, etc.
This involves 3 or 4 evening meetings during the
summer and the preparation and presentation of
a poster at the end of the summer.
A certificate is awarded to students upon completion
of the summer program.
