"Seven Layers"
presented by "Art Bee" of the Azalea City Quilters' Guild, Inc.
May 1, 2008 – June 30, 2008 (Third Floor Gallery)
The three traditional layers of a quilt; cover, batting and backing; are embellished with four additional layers. Each additional layer is created with a new component: threadplay, which is an inventive type of machine quilting that produces an embossed effect, as well as paint, beads, appliqués, and other embellishments to create artistic designs. The quilters of "Art Bee" have displayed their decorative designs in such venues as the Mobile Museum of Art and The Eastern Shore Art Center.
